About Us

The Blind People’s Association (BPA) founded in 1954 is one of the largest NGO in the country engaged in education, training & rehabilitation of the disabled of all kinds. It is known for developing a variety of need based programmes for the integrated development of the disabled which include prevention of blindness and disability, production of mobility, and rehabilitation/assistive devices.

BPA’s activities are located at 6 campuses - three at Ahmedabad and one each at Bareja, Bavla , Bhuj .

Navalbhai & Hiraba Eye Hospital

BPA & Bareja General Hospital Trust jointly started Navalbhai and Hiraba Eye Hospital at Bareja, inaugurated by Mr. I. K. Jadeja, Hon’ble Minister of Health on 19th January 2003. The hospital provides comprehensive eye care services to the persons in 32 villages around Bareja.

Infrastructure facilities

Clinical : Refraction Rooms, Ophthalmologist Chamber, Operation Theatre for Micro Surgeries, Operation Theatre for Cataract and Keratoplasty, a Patient Preparation Room, an Autoclave Room and a Pathology Lab.

Wards & Beds : 2 Female Wards, 2 Male Wards, each ward having 20 patients capacity. 50 Beds, 4 Special Rooms.

Support Services :      

Registration Room, a Doctor’ & Physician Room, Administration Room, Canteen, Medicine Counter, Spectacle Workshop, Patient waiting area for 20 patients.

AThe Services Provided at N & H Eye Hospital

  • Detail eye check up and treatment.

  • Cataract Extraction surgeries with IOL implantation. Both Small Incision Cataract Surgery and PHACO emulsification surgery.

  • Other surgeries for Glaucoma, pterygium and minor eye problem and Corneal Transplant.

  • Emergency corneal treatment

  • Physiotherapy services to disabled and needy people

  • Emergency Ambulance services and first aid treatment to accident patients.

  • Refractive Error check-up

  • Spectacles and contact lenses dispersing

  • Integrated Services for the Visually Impaired persons in Ahmedabad District.

Support us to reach the unreachable

The cost of Cataract surgery is Rs.1300/- including IOL, Medicine, Consumables, diagnostics, and hospitalisation. Contribution from patients is Rs.600/-. Free surgery is provided to poor patients.

We also perform PHACO Emulsification surgery on cost recovery basis.
