BPA has been providing "Eye Care" to people of Gujarat for many years at a nominal (or no) cost. Their website gives detail information on their operation. BPA can help more people, by restoring their eye sight with your donation. Still better, you  (and your friends / relatives) consider sponsoring an Eye Camp in your town. BPA's setting up eye camp on your request in your town at a time convinient to you is the feature specially appealed to us. There are lot of poor people every where who need eye care, but can not afford it.

Recently my home town Sathamba had an eye camp. BPA sent a team of doctors with a co-ordinator and a bus. More than 200 people came for eye check up. Doctors found 90 people who needed cataract operation. The patients were taken same afternoon, in the bus to Bareja (~28km from Ahmedabad) where BPA's  Eye Hospital is located. They were operated next day and were brought back to Sathamba the third day. After a week, doctors came for follow up check. After about a month they came back for taking the people, to hospital, who needed cataract operation for the second eye. They repeated the whole process for the second eye.

The cost? You would not believe it! Donation amount for eye camp is Rs. 10,000. Donation amount for Cataract operation is Rs. 1300 per person.

BPA generally finds about 70 people needing cataract surgery in any eye camp, but Manav Seva Mandal of Sathamba did a good job in spreading the message to poor people in and around Sathamba. And they plan to sponsor a camp in Sathamba every year.
